Women Love Power Lessons From Oshun

  1. Women Love Power: Yes, she's my favorite Miss Universe!
  2. Women Love Power: 069694487 I thought that that was stated quite clearly --- that the dances arrived to the Americas via the transatlantic slave trade… Actually thought I said that specifically towards the beginning, but I have to go back and check. Apologies if That was not clear. However the dance forms and traditions (as they did evolve ) that I am familiar with as a dancer and student are Afro Cuban and so that's the imagery I've incorporated-- as this is less about the "worship" ( I am not a practitioner) and more so about using myth and folklore as a way of better understanding the human experience. For people who are just encountering my work With this video-- there's a bit of confusion as to what I do and the nature of my work. Nonetheless, yes, I could have just as easily chosen Nigerian, Haitian or even Brazilian imagery.
  3. Black m.d to be: I need a music playlist!!
  4. Ashley Neal: where else would it come from
  5. Women Love Power: Queen of Shade I'll put a list together
  6. Anna: You should really create a Patreon! Just discovered you on Grapevine and you're brilliant!!

  8. cierrasme: Go Caps!!1
  9. Women Love Power: zan752000 thanks!!!
  10. LadyJaggerX3: I love all of your videos so far, and I was surprised that you touched on the Orishas, let alone Oshun. Honestly, this entire video resonated with me. I have been reading on Afrospiritualism lately, so I'm totally here for this. If you feel like delving deeper, I suggest Luisah Teish to start. :)
  11. Diana Jaqueline: I loved this so much!!! 💖 AND the music 😍Salsa is in my blood. I definitely feel connected to Oshun or at least possessing a lot of her qualities. Thanks for this video!
  12. Sapphira John: Ase this is so wonderful thank you for sharing this you articulated Oshuns energy so nicely got me think how I can channel my inner honey Goddess
  13. Oluwatosin Alo: Hi! Nice video. Just some notes....it’s written as Osun, also it’s Yoruba. According to the Yoruba mythology which originated from Nigeria, Osun was one of the wives of Sango the god of Thunder. She was a very beautiful woman. She eventually turned into the river Osun and this river passed through some states in Nigeria including Osun State, Nigeria.
  14. Sobayo: I enjoyed watching this video, thanks for uploading it.
  15. smartsexyfun97: Why I feel like I just heard all about myself.
  16. ife360TV Naturally: I feel as though I need to watch this a few more times, everything that you mentioned made me reflect on my life, my choices, my encounters.....😩🤔 Keep posting videos, I'm listening 🙌🏽
  17. Ivana Pavljuk: Wow such a beautiful Video!!!
  18. cierrasme: Thank you so much for your videos. Your like my big sister I always wish I had. I'm a Capricorn and I am always looked to for advice but I am rare to find someone who can give me the same. I not only enjoy your videos but I also walk away with a few more inches of growth.
  19. Women Love Power: I was quite clear, and if you are familiar with my work at womenlovepower.com you would know, this video has nothing to do with worship. I am not involved in any spiritual practices involving Oshun and that is not what my platform is about. In the beginning of the video, I explain that I use mythology from ALL over the world to explore archetypes and parables that can better help us understand the human condition. In that regard, I follow the tradition of Carl Jung who often relied on mythology in his psychological work. I have been involved in this work for over a decade and while I occasionally take advantage of pop cultural trends, because it's nice to meet people where they are and take them where you want to go, I don't profess to be anyone's spiritual guide nor am I jumping on any band wagons. This is my life's work and I take it quite seriously. Thanks for watching.
  20. zan752000: This is so beautiful. Thank you for this. I will be forwarding this to all my female friends and relatives. Looking forward to your next video.

  34. witthy augustin: I hope you get this clearer for the people, because they have a fragmented thinking. They don't know if the earth used to be one landmass. You can see that as an Haitian I have proof that Haiti is a part of Atlantis that plit and got itself positioned itself across the Atlantic.

  45. Runner B: Great video. Just discovered you on The Grapevine & I like the way you articulate your ideas & those "words ". I think I will need a notebook to write notes whenever I watch you guys on the panel. Like to see smart & strong black women like you discussing different topics with such class. Keep up the good work ✌
  46. Love bliss: Capricorn? OMG I have a Facebook friend who is one n she always try to make me understand in the areas of men n religion not to be so easy in accepting what is thrown at me parading as lies. My granddaughters are Capricorns n in their early 30's who are strong business n creative women. Am the opposite sign. Cancerian with a moon in Capricorn. A tough moon placement. Am now going back to an earth mantra for stamina. Can't take being pulled in many directions anymore at my age.

  55. Safia Marmon: 😍
  56. T J: You are Stunning and intelligent, Classy Nubian 👑, If I had a daughter I would love to have woman like you to teach her how to not be brain wash by social Society mores. To be honest most respectable families sought out sucessful husbands and families for their daughters. The sons did not marry for love but security and off spring to build wealth ect. A family unit. In time they grew to love each other from the arrangement. You had men with land , stock, 💰. Black men that became free from slavery who had a education, or Trade became sucessful. Rose wood the movie shown black people owning their own town black businesses. Just a example. Everyone will not be rich but Men stood for something and having pride in being head of the house with a good woman too be his gift from God. A man that finding a wife is a good thing. The times now are wicked fill with deceit with greed, lustful nature's, I feel a woman should not soley rely on a Man or any one but God to survive.
  57. Women Love Power: cierrasme thanks! It's my dream to help women stand fully in their power and I'm a Capricorn too!
  58. Natasha: You have single handedly changed the woman I am. For the better. I cant wait to tap into my inner Oshun. You are a gift.
  59. Chantelle Chanti: Thank you!! This is amazing!
  60. Women Love Power: LadyJaggerX3 thanks for stopping by my virtual home! I am a fan of Luisa and I own several of her books! So many women can relate to Oshun once we begin to see her as far more than a love goddess because her stories can really help us understand our own powers and make sense of our struggles and the cyclical nature of life.
  61. Roots: Fingers Crossed!
  62. Fifty Foot Fashionista: I am desperate for this Afro-Cuban playlist. Amazing! 💃🏾

  75. Just Jaye’s: Good video
  76. Sarah Anthonia Cobbinah: Thanks for sharing with us💜
  77. Khari Cook: I was headed to bed... but you had to drop knowledge I was actually in need of. My best friend who is Nigerian(Yuruba) told me to look up Oshun for my current art show, and because we've been trying to figure out my curse. I'm known in my friend group to be a very pulling(seducer) to people, and for me I never understood my allure. My male friends say that don't understand why they are attracted to me, especially being because they're heterosexual; and my female friends too. I've never look at this energy as a power, though I've always called it the Phoenix Force(which is very reflective as of Oshun). Thanks for the video and links, I have much to study.
  78. woolly zizi: OSUN THE EVIL SPIRITS ,DEVIL AND EVIL SPIRITS WORSHIPPERS
  79. Naija Vegan: I've been binge watching 'The Grapevine' and have now come across your channel. Not only are you highly intelligent and gorgeous, you practice African Spirituality too...faints 😍
  80. Women Love Power: Khari Cook yes! It's a very powerful energy-- the same creative energy that goes into your art also creates a field of attraction around you!
  81. Shonnda Cooper: Thank you! I'm now aware🌹
  82. Eden Croft: Loved this video. Thank you - so multi-layered and insightful.
  83. Just Niquol: This video was amazing will you do one on Oya, Yemoja, or Obba?
  84. Malkia: I relate to Oshun and Yemaya... but there are hundreds more! Can anyone recommend good books to learn more about the Orisas? I have not found one specifically on the gods and goddesses, only Ifa and Odu belief
  85. legail1: Spondulix Goddess Oshun T-Shirt www.zazzle.com/goddess_oshun_t_shirt-235143720785712137 Sunflower Leggings www.zazzle.com/sunflower_leggings-256125484664059452
  86. HerInnerBeauty: beautiful
  87. Women Love Power: LadyJaggerX3 I honestly believe that dance is the number one way that women feel their way into their energy. It connects us to our creative, fluid energy and a grounds us to the earth. It encourages improvisation, pleasure, fluidity, freedom, flexibility, and sensuality. Treating yourself to a dance class at least once or twice a week is one of the best things you can do! It is therapeutic! And don't forget, you can always dance on your own, like no one is watching, as well!
  88. Annette Goka: Lol wow I remember the Cindy Crawford Pepsi commercial. You are not lying sis loo
  89. Fatima camara: I love this channel and your work. I keep checking for updates. I would love to hear your views on Feminism !

  95. 069694487: Orishas and a lot of the dances you mentioned in your video actually originates from Nigeria in West Africa and not Cuba
  96. zan752000: This is on repeat for me.
  97. Hermenia: Absolutely amazing video! Love your channel ❤
  98. Mon Ami Gabi: More videos please!!!

  100. HF Martin: BEAUTIFUL.
  101. kamikazemind327: Yes Oshun! I pray to her alot. The moment I saw the title I had to jump on this! lol Oshun is very different from I but I hope to revel in my femininity as much as she does...but keep a steady head! lol Femininity IS power!
  102. Erica Ruth: Thank you!
  103. melosidad1: Excellent post

  106. fairygmother1: Thank you! Just thank you!
  107. Anaelle Eva: I absolutely loved it !
  108. Love bliss: Just stumbled on this now after watching other takes on Oshun. I am Oshun energy. I have been tru the mill with loosing my power. Am still struggling at 60. Learning IFA for 3 yrs now but bcuz of the structure of Traditional Yoruba religion I feel stuck. Why? No Ebo or Sacrifice it takes a miracle to break tru. I do add other chants, prayers, affirmations to my life. I speak to my priest and he tells me to believe in all Orishas. Am realizing that my power has to come back by my own intuition guiding me. Waiting for thousands of dollars to get power is to me like pulling a heavy boulder. I love this video. I need to write some stuff down. Wow. Thank you.
  109. Rhema1500: This is me! So glad I stumbled onto this!
  110. Women Love Power: Kuzhy811 thank you! I'm so happy!!!
  111. Women Love Power: Wow! Thank you for watching and for inspiring me with your feedback! xo
  112. Queen RiRi: I'm a Capricorn as well. Happy Birthday my Capricorn sistas😉
  113. Mic C: I was training in her mysteries back in 2012, it's funny how everyone all of the sudden wants to jump on Orisha today and they all the sudden are called when there's YouTube videos and online articles everywhere about Orisha now. When I was training there was none of this lol
  114. Laniqua & Kaniqua: Absolutely LOVE your channel! Please make more videos. Please! :)
  115. Ericka Ward: Can you also make a video on Yemaya?
  116. cierrasme: I pressed like because of title itself.
  117. Joanne Louis: Well Done Thank You Ayesha
  118. Elaine Sullivan-Child: What a beautiful wonderful video thank you 🙏🏾
  119. Lisa Lee: I had no idea about Oshun but from listening to these stories of her it makes me feel connected in a way. Thank you 💛 I'm definitely going to take a closer look into the life of this Goddess🌻
  120. Christina Dejene: Wow this was awesome! I will definitely be studying more about Oshun. This was very empowering!
  121. DivineLime10: Omo Yoruba!!! Sorry, had to rep for my culture lol. Great vid, and loved the representations used for Osun. Lots of great examples to demonstrate divine feminine energy while sharing ancient African stories! :-)
  122. yolanda: How did she die?
  123. Kandy A: I am loving your content!! This lesson on Oshun is on point and on time!
  124. AfroAmericaninAfrica: This was everything and so on time for me for so many reasons. That part about being in your darkest hours and forgetting the power you innately possess and the growth that comes from it all was just... 🙌🏾 Thank you Ayesha! Could you give the names of the Afro Cuban musicians/songs played? Also, I will def check out your blog post but can anyone recommend additional reading on Yoruba spirituality? I have been interested for years but have trouble finding a starting point for studying/reading. Thanks so much.
  125. Al Person: The woman in the picture at 13:58 is Ms Universe 1998 - Wendy Fitzwilliam. That girl is tall and gorgeous and is even better looking in real life. The only person I've ever turned around to look at more than once.
  126. Oluyemi Olatunde: Women Love Power you quite did well with the presentation! I'm a Yoruba guy and I could not have presented it more than you did! Those Orishas were for real... You need to have experienced them to be stunned and change your thinking for life! Well done, Ayesha!
  127. Women Love Power: Yes, at 3:44 actually, but should I ever feature another Orishas I'll elaborAte so that it is clear to everyone. 20 minute video... easy to miss that one line.
  128. Pat Domond: Very Nice video, you have handled the subject with grace, honnor and in the psychological way also . Thank you dear. You have my support.
  129. KOE ano: Young Oshun sounds like me
  130. QueenQ LovesHathor: Wow Very Powerful
  131. Ororo Munroe: You're like right on time, I needed to hear all of this.
  132. Roots: Concur with all here.  Please keep the vids coming!  Your voice is appreciated!
  133. Eva Adesuwa: I loved your blog post on this topic and re-read it at almost any chance that I get. Now you’ve done it in video! THANK YOU.
  134. LenaBena Art: I just came across this today. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING that you explained that she went through, I have been through it and am still going through it; men, loosing myself to please others, and as a result I’m going through a lot of anxiety and depression. When you said, “our pain can very well be our right of passage,” I cried. Because I finally found some hope through all of this. I’m not sure how I can honor her (candles, offerings, etc) because my (Haitian) “husband” is a devoted Christian and believes it’s “witchcraft,” I’m going to somehow find a way to ask her for guidance out of this. I’ve honored her before and felt VERY happy and free but I was told it was evil although I felt nothing evil about it. I only wish I had used my BRAIN instead of my heart to have stood up for myself. Thank you so much for bringing such light into this darkness❤️ as an artist, I feel compelled to do a painting symbolizing her essence.
  135. Sha Savage: What is the name of the Afro Cuban song in the opening? Anyone know? Thanx!
  136. MzQue: this was great.
  137. Roots: Okay, I came here just to start the campaign - She's Gotta Have It on Netflix - would LOVE to hear you break this down!   Pretty please :)
  138. Natrishka: Wow, amazing information and delivery. I am so thankful for the wisdom. Blessed New Year.
  139. Kuzhy811: So glad I came across your channel, instant sub! Much love and blessings💖✨😄
  140. Women Love Power: Thank you Arlenis! No Patreon, but I am debuting a monthly master class series on my site WomenLovePower.com in January of 2018 so you can support AND get access to great content!
  141. Kuzhy811: Women Love Power You are most welcome and I'm just as happy delving into your content. It resonates so much with me💖✨😄
  142. Women Love Power: Many Moon yes, two, ayeshakfaines and women_love_power

  155. Women Love Power: Glad you enjoyed!
  156. Mrs. linda george: I was into this OSHUN before Beyonce
  157. Iam Loveinfinity: 👌🏽❤️
  158. lexuscarrington: Phenomenonal, award winning video. Excellent, excellent. I was hearing different interpretation of oshun and it was represented just angry spirit energy doing witch craft. This makes alot more sense and deep reflection. Thank you. Please do more of the orisha's I really respect your clean and lovely interpretation. I am able to connect more. Many blessings to you and all that you are doing.
  159. Yogini Transit: This is my second time watching this video. It is so powerful and informative and is a good message to remind me to use my soft feminine power more often, and also how to use it. Thank you so much for sharing. The story of Oshun is inspirational and I definitely want to learn more about her and additional African Mythology. I was also thinking about getting into some type of dancing to invoke more of my femininity. The small bit about salsa and afro carribean dancing has given me some ideas. Thanks for sharing! 😊
  160. Women Love Power: You forget that you posted something directly implicating my work, and then deleted that before leaving this response, so I am clear about your intentions.
  161. Ashley Reese: Beautiful sis!
  162. Antoinette Edwards: I love Oshun 💛💛💛🌻🌻🌻
  163. coloredcuteness: Do you have a list of books that you recommend regarding oshun
  164. Omiajẹ Naturals: Love you Ayesha! ❤ I would love to send you a gift of our Oshun Goddess Body Butter.
  165. LadyJaggerX3: Women Love Power "She doesn't ask, plead, force, or give an ultimatum." That was totally a good part of my former love life. All bargaining and struggle. Totally embracing my soft power as of late and reaping the benefits! Leaving my small town, and hoping to find not only African dance, but bellydance courses as well. I've missed dance as a whole so much. Gradually getting into a physical and mental place where I can explore my creativity and spirituality more. ♡
  166. Women Love Power: that's awesome! I try to connect the esoteric with popular culture, so while my platform (WomenLovePower) often uses world mythology to better help women understand their powers, beyond how they are defined in a masculine power structure, I always welcome the opportunity to connect these concepts with popular culture (ie Lemonade) because then people who aren't aware are more likely to learn something new. Meet people where they are and lead them where you want them to go... that's my approach.
  167. bredeebubbles: This is great!
  168. Oluyemi Olatunde: candra pollock I will recommend to you www.daydreamalston.com and you can connect with the lady owner! She's has gone through all the processes of what you might be ambiguous to you! Another good one is www.obafemio.com, he is an Ifá priest, whom I think will help with all knowledge bases you might need! Good luck!
  169. Women Love Power: Roots huge chance I'll do that, either here or as an article!
  170. Jennifer Edmond: My God I️ needed this message! So many gems
  171. tsuyayaka1: I’ve never heard of any of this! I have some research to do. Thank you for making this video!
