In this video, Conservator Chris Woods describes the work that goes on behind the scenes to prepare Hereford Cathedral's 1217 Magna Carta for travel. This iconic document was written on sheepskin parchment almost 800 years ago, and is rigorously examined before each journey. Hereford's Magna Carta is travelling to seven countries over four months to mark the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta this year.
