- Andrea Robyn: It is a significant risk factor, and it does often lead to infertility, the research is there if you care to look. In the episode, many of his sperm can't swim, so it isn't a stretch to assume that's a contributing factor. Smoking is a risk, it doesn't necessarily cause infertility in every man who's ever smoked, but to ignore the correlation is a tad foolish in my opinion.

Inhospitable environment doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s impossible for her to conceive, it gets even more complicated because of Chandler’s problem, but if you can suggest sperm donor, than you can suggest IVF which they could have tried before opting for adoption (which is wonderful by the way)

- ShyLittleDreamer: Andrea Robyn Isn‘t that what I just wrote,though? I said that smoking is a risk for your health,but it doesn’t necessarily have life-changing consequences. Otherwise every smoking man would be infertile. I doubt smoking in a „normal“ measure leads to infertility often. There are other factors that play a part in that as well. Assuming that smoking alone is the reason for Chandler‘s infertility is an assumption that could be totally wrong. I know a lot of men who have been smoking for a long time- and none of them had problems with conceiving children. I don’t doubt that it can have consequences,but-like you said- it doesn’t have to lead to infertility. And I think most people just like bashing about smoking, because it’s „cool“ to do that. (I don’t smoke,by the way,but I just noticed a lot of this bashing going on.)
